Nurikabe is a logic puzzle with a bit complicated rules and challenging solutions.

The rules are not so simple. :)
You have a grid of squares Some cells of the grid start containing numbers. The goal is to determine whether each of the cells of the grid is "black" or "white" (Islands in the Stream calls these "water" and "land" respectively). The black cells form "the nurikabe" (Islands in the Stream calls it "the stream"): they must all be orthogonally contiguous (form a single polyomino), number-free, and contain no 2x2 or larger solid rectangles (Islands in the Stream calls such illegal blocks "pools"). The white cells form "islands" (which is where Islands in the Stream got its name): each number n must be part of an n-omino composed only of white cells. All white cells must belong to exactly one island; islands must have exactly one numbered cell. Solvers will typically shade in cells they have deduced to be black and dot (non-numbered) cells deduced to be white.
Left click on a square to make it black. Right click to mark with dot. Click and drag to mark more than one square.

Content & Nickname Policy

A. Scope

Our puzzle websites and apps publish original, programmatically generated logic puzzles. They contain no user-generated content other than player nicknames displayed on leaderboards. There are no comments, chat rooms, forums, file uploads or user profile pages, and puzzles are solved with clicks and selections rather than free-text input.

B. Nickname rules

  1. Nicknames must be 3–15 characters long and may contain only letters and digits. Special characters, spaces, links and email addresses are not technically possible.
  2. Nicknames may not contain profanity, slurs, or references to sexual content, violence or drugs, in any spelling or combination.
  3. Nicknames may not impersonate other people, brands or staff.

C. Screening and enforcement

  1. Every nickname is automatically screened before it is accepted — at registration, on profile change and on social sign-up. A nickname that fails screening is rejected and never appears on the site.
  2. New accounts receive a neutral, system-generated nickname by default.
  3. As an additional safeguard, restricted terms are masked at display time.
  4. The entire user base is re-screened in automated audits, run regularly and whenever the screening rules are updated. Nicknames found in violation are renamed to a neutral Player format, and an audit record is kept.

D. Reporting

To report a nickname or any other concern, use the contact or feedback link available on every page. Reports are reviewed and acted on promptly.
